its the biggest one yet!!!
26 March, 2010
Oh me, oh my, its a very exciting change for Upmarket this week, with our move to UWA (lots of parking folks…lots…. [I had a market downer last weekend...no parking... hefty fines (200 bucks!!!) it was a 'no parking' market venue]).
Well after that ‘mother earth’ of a storm, UWA wasn’t looking that flash (lots of windows broken), so Justine (not me…Mrs Barsley…or as I like to call her Mrs Clever) and her team, organised marquee’s, to house the 100 odd artisans expected this weekend on the grounds at the very beautiful UWA
….late breaking news reveals that UWA has come to the ‘market party’ and fixed the windows in Winthrop Hall in time for this Sunday!!!
Other great news
- its the same day and venue (different area) as the Perth Sun Fair ( a renewable energy and sustainable living fair)…which I’m very excited about
- there are play areas for kids; including Storks Corner Store (story readers and craft activities)
- eco peko’s cardboard courtyard (we have a comp going on..)
- Phil from Unfurl will be the DJ crooner & teaching his juggling skills
- and 30 free bags of artisian goodness to pick up .
it gets better…ecopeko & Upmarket only specials….
Because of our year long unison and synergy with Upmarket, eco peko would like to offer these specials for the March 28th market
- the first 3 customers who buy 2 tees, will receive a free set of eco table and chairs (value $49.95)
- the first 3 customers to buy 1 tee, will receive a free, eco rockin cradle (value $ 15.00)
- order’s for super sturdy cubbies or castles are only $39.95 (on the day) excluding shipping.
- pre-ordered cubbies & castles for pick up that day are $39.95 (no shipping…must be pre-ordered through either info@ecopeko.com or 0448 218 135)
……….these cubbies and castles are the best on the market (confirmed by European design book ‘Cardboard Design’) , are made from recycled card and made in Perth..I have done lots of testing with my own 5yr and 3yr old children (Big hit at Levi’s (5) birthday) and are currently retailing for $49.95 (not including shipping), the discount offer is only for this weekends Perth Upmarket.
But wait there’s more!!!!!!!!……….every ecopeko sale at upmarket will receive free organic veggie seeds (and garden patch chatter..if you are keen..we love talking veggies)
It really is the biggest one yet!
Rock a bye baby
8 March, 2010
The very lovely Michelle, sent in a picture of her son Henry (5 months), being rocked in an eco peko cardboard cradle.
Though meant for dolls, this picture shows, bubba’s like to rock out in them as well (he’s so cute
.
Thanks Henry and Michelle xx
Spencer Tunick
6 March, 2010
I had an amazing experience at the end of the shows…by being a part of Spencer’s artwork. I wasn’t going to blog about it, because I thought it not ‘eco peko clothing’…but in reflection, realized, it so is…
I was lucky enough to share a liberating experience with 5000 other people…though very cold, over time we all developed a tribe, under the careful instruction of Spencer. I noted people well over and under the 60 mark, and over and under the 60kg mark. Amazing tattoo’s and body shapes..with no judgement and plenty of comradeship…I didn’t take any photo’s, but googled this…if you ever have the opportunity, be a part of art.xxxxx
Life In style
4 March, 2010
What an amazing 4 days at Sydney’s Life Instyle last week!!! We were surrounded by some great exhibiters Miss Haidee with her vintage one off’s made by Nanna’s in Byron Bay, Aunty Ollie with her wonderful retro wear, Jazslings the practical one piece sling (no rings..I love it) and the very lovely Mally from Grasshopper a beautifully hand knitted range of baby wear by some amazing women in Zimbabwe.
Other wonderful products I saw were from Princess Ratbag (the most luxurious pettiskirts ever), with there new apricot / musk skirts (can’t say it enough…amazing) and as always clever, clever Jetti Spaghetti with lamps, chopsticks and blackboard placemats .
We had a busy time, what with all the trade shows happening at the same time, George Michael playing near the grounds and the Mardi Gras Parade on the Saturday, there was lots of colour and movement!
Surrounded by cardboard yet again, I wore my Mady Dooijes hemp/organic cotton dress (dyed with tea…very cool, check this designer out
and talked eco peko until I was peko’ed right out…..
Thank you, thank you to my very talented sister for all her help…..until next year…bye, bye Instyle and…. hello Upmarket
the exciting media release !!!!!

some lovely pictures
2 December, 2009
Here are some great pictures by the very lovely Jessica Shaver at last weekends very successful Perth Upmarket.
We were on the verander on Hay street and even though, we only had half a roof, we had a very cool cardboard corner.
Our cardboard creations were received very well, and as we only made a small run, we only have a limited amount left. If its something that interests you (a very cool creative distraction for the kids this chrissy lunch), take advantage of our sale and get one before we sell out.

Our table & chairs were a big hit, and have been pressure tested to take weights of up to 80kgs.
We painted blackboard paint on one set, which looked fantastic.
Our Cradles rock and can be personalized in every way imaginable. Its a great gift for your little one, and very cost effective.

every little prince or princess deserves a castle…
Kids inStyle
10 August, 2009
Its taken just over a week to recover from what seems like the longest trade show in the world (5 days!!!).
Kids inStyle, is a part of Life inStyle and is very impressive indeed. This year it was held in The Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Melbourne and there were over 500 exhibitors.
We were tucked in the far back corner and had built a cardboard house, which was a first for the show. It took us two days and a lot of sweat and tears (mine), but it finally came together (and again…was very impressive indeed) We were voted one of the top 20 best in show by Kids Style File …yay!

The cardboard Cubby
Luckly we were situated next to some very cool ‘tradies’ indeed. To our left were the Boofheads girls. They create posh shampoo for kids, and though its not organic is SLS and sulphate free and the perfume (notes of patcholi..which I love) is devine. My daughter (who hated having her hair washed) now has the shiniest hair on the street. I can’t recommend it enough.
Next to them were the very lovely Paris and Louise from Jetti Spaghetti who have created chop sticks for kids, and my 4 year old and 2 year old, love them (and can use them!).
On our right was Gillian from Danish by Design, who had a rug, that was actually a dolls house (its amazing!).
The team consisted of Mim (thank you dear sister) and great friends James and Dean, who helped put the whole thing together.
Thanks everyone, see you in Sydney for next years show!
